ANOTHER WEEK WITH.... STANLEY HAUERWAS pt. 1

If you've been a reader of The Phaith of St. Phransus for any amount time you know that I have a real admiration for Stanley Hauerwas. Dr. Hauerwas is a prof. at Duke Divinity School, he was named "America’s Best Theologian" by Time in 2001. Hauerwas' theological orthodoxy and political progressivism defy attempts by liberals or conservatives to own him, and deny both sides the comfort of entrenched positions.

This week instead of posting quotes from Stan, I'll be sharing segments of an interview with him. I hope you enjoy and I hope you are stretched. I invite dialog and discussion.

yeah, he is attending an episcopalian church but i don't think he's given up his identification with the methodists, he just hasn't found a methodist church that he identifies with. at least that's what i've heard.

how are those books doing?

He's stolen my Rowan Williams Resurrection as well. That Daniel Greeson can't be trusted with our books!

Wow, Stanley Hauerwas actually quoted Scripture!!! (Philippians 2). : ) Thanks for the interview - look forward to hearing the rest. And, Daniel, I'd love to hear the speech he gave at the Mormon conference. Could you make it available somehow?
