Athos in Greece?

Schmemann, Ware...excellent choices (I'm not familiar with the 3rd one). Given that you're obviously Protestant (from your "about me") and you've studied some Catholicism you might be interested in "The Ancestral Sin" by Romanides. I'm sure The Alektor Cafe could get it for you.Stacyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05101239830142078005noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8722186.post-1127391610340876802005-09-22T07:20:00.000-05:002005-09-22T07:20:00.000-05:00Now I'm intruigued- who is this theologian? My first experience with monasticism was with St. Francis, then Benedict. I love Merton's writings, too. Then in recent days I've been moving toward orthodox writers- Callistos Ware, Vigen Guroian, and Alex Schmemann. It's all very exciting.

shalom,
jonathonJonathonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05754345540431565703noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8722186.post-1127388553757980022005-09-22T06:29:00.000-05:002005-09-22T06:29:00.000-05:00I'm a fan of the Alektor Cafe as well. Parthineous my regards the next time you see him.

Why Benedictine Monasticism as opposed to other Christian monastic traditions? Again, I'm just being curious. Have you studied hesychism?

I hope you don't mind my intrigue.

P.S. One of the brilliant Orthodox-convert theologian minds attends the Orthodox Church in Nashville (Franklin: St. Ignatius). He's a professor and an author.Stacyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05101239830142078005noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8722186.post-1127362560755030832005-09-21T23:16:00.000-05:002005-09-21T23:16:00.000-05:00Hey Stacy,i've not actually been to an orthodox ch...Hey Stacy,
i've not actually been to an orthodox church, although my favorite and most spiritual place to hang out is the Alektor Cafe which is a coffee house/book store that is run by an orthodox priest. i am heavily influenced by the orthodx tradition and benedictine monasticism.

thanks for the interest.

shalom,
jonathonJonathonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05754345540431565703noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8722186.post-1127355619861689182005-09-21T21:20:00.000-05:002005-09-21T21:20:00.000-05:00I was randomly searching blog world and stumbled u...I was randomly searching blog world and stumbled upon your sight. You have an influence of Byzantine Icons and ancient Christian texts. Just out of curiousity have you been to an Orthodox Church? Anyway, I was just wondering about the connection.Stacyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05101239830142078005noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8722186.post-1127312998322223332005-09-21T09:29:00.000-05:002005-09-21T09:29:00.000-05:00Thanks!Good to see you yesterday at lunch, too! Thanks!

Good to see you yesterday at lunch, too!Cionahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13035368818717712542noreply@blogger.com
