Yeah, I noticed a burst of nasty anti-religious sentiment out of the Dems after the last presidential election. The thing is, as we see from lefty Christians like Dean, it's completely unecessary for the the Democrats to make 'religion' their big bad enemy. There's a lot of co-opting potential here that they're just ignoring.
A lot of libertarian leadership is likewise hostile to religion. I see it all the time in Catallarchy. It's a shame.
it's not surprising to me, considering the backers of certain social issues that the Democratic party supports. this ain't the ole family-friendly working man's friend party it used to be.
in a day and age of corporate interest tied to such power as we have and politicians who are connected with such- i am weary of a political party and of politicians who don't represent some form of modern grassroots politics.
doesn't leave much choice for me in the federal government.

it's unfortunate because
1. it gives the religious right a monopoly on religion in the mainstream political sphere and
2. it leaves a lot of good religious people marginalized.
