St Phransus: tinkering with different medium

I'm considering doing some sort of podcast type of post once a week. I want it to be a niche' that I would be comfortable recording (which means that soundtrack music would be involved). Here are my thoughts, let me know what you would be interested in hearing:

IDEA #1: A Lectio style guided meditation on the week's lectionary gospel- could be used as a prayer time, meditation, centering prayer, etc etc...

IDEA #2: Prayers set to soundtrack music- prayers that would follow the Christian season, would be sort of an ambience meets beat poetry.

IDEA #3: Random Thoughts For the Week- just whatever is on my mind at the moment

IDEA #4: Thoughts on Spiritual Disciplines/Practices- cover a different practice every week, consider quotes from different contemplative writers and such...

IDEA #5: add your ideas, cause that's all i have

let me know what you think

Jonathon,

I think that one of the two practical and concrete prayer options would be great. I'm getting to a point, as probably many are who either read your blog or have sympathetic orthodox and liturgical leanings, where I need to put up or shut up. Either I start practicing what I'm learning and sometimes talking about, or I stop the mental.

I think Thomas Merton wrote in his Asian Journal about this eloquently. He and several Buddhist or Hindu monks discussed the need for balance between two things: wisdom and discipline.

I'm falling way too heavily on one side.

Peace to you,
Josh

i'm thinking a series of podcasts based around the voicemail messages of you and jonas screaming, yelling, and being otherwise silly.

that definitely has potential. ha ha!!

I would really find ideas 1 and 2 to be greatly helpful in my own life and ministry. In fact, I might steal one of those ideas if you don't do them yourself, though I'm lazy by nature and I hope you take them on!

why not rotate the ideas, based upon how you feel inspired at the moment :)

zoom's idea seems to be the most "ME" so far. I can't stay on one subject or strain of thought for too terribly long- it's the adhad/youth director/creative sort/coming out in me (gavin can back me up on this).

I was thinking more along the lines of a dirty joke contest with Gavin Richardson.

I'm most interested in #2 . . . prayers in the style of Ginsberg can't go wrong! Great idea, Jonathan!

Monk,
a podcast is a way of doing an audio braodcast over the Internet, usually using MP3 file format. Here's the wikipedia link for more info on the subject: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Podcast
