The most positive spin I would put on this is to label Gavin an immitator of Christ. Jesus was without sin, but it is only a huge embarrassment to be caught with one's fly down, no less than by a bishop. Jesus was subject to catching colds, stubbing his toe, or biting his tongue when chewing food. So, metaphorically I can see Jesus "caught with his fly down" as the Disciple John leans over to him before Jesus was to deliver the Sermon on the Mount and says, "Not just yet, Jesus, something seems to be amiss; you've got a rip and your ware is showing."
So, here's Gavin, being Christ-like in a way he didn't intend. Ah, the red-faced delight of being human.
Reflective ramblings on life, culture and methodism from a "lazy day hammock theologian".

it is good to know that regardless of anything else, the Bishop is helpful in wardrobe malfunctions.

That was possibly the most awkward inspection of my life.

Me:"Yes, sir"
Instructor:"Fix your zipper"
Me:"..."
Gavin, you represent our family well!
Hilarious!
It could be worse. The encounter could take place during ordination vows.
